Step aside, Gen-Xers and Baby Boomers. Tyler Adkison, a cryptocurrency hedge fund CEO, states that cryptocurrencies are the pinnacle of the future that will be conquered by Millennials.
Adkison, 22, as of late retired as a small time baseball player with the Los Angeles Dodgers to launch a crypto hedge fund concentrated exclusively on athletes. Given the unstable nature of cryptocurrencies, Tyler has been targeted to a lot of skepticism from his peers and fans as well. However, Tyler says he is quite amped up for this new chapter in his life.
While speaking with OC Register, Adkinson revealed: “This drive of cryptocurrency is extremely Millennial-driven.”
“All developers are Millennials or younger generations. They’re all tech-savvy and the people creating and driving this space are us,” he added.
No doubt this move taken by a former aspiring baseball player who gave up professional sports to enter into the world of cryptocurrencies may come as a surprise to many. However, Adkison, on the other hand, remains quite confident on his decision as he said, he has been a tech geek all his life, while also revealing that the bitcoin has enthralled him for years.
Adkinson stated, “I studied business at San Diego State and I have always had my eye on investing, things of that nature.”
He went on to add, “I have been mesmerized by Technology for as long as I could imagine. I was waiting in line for the release of the first iPad. I was in middle school and sold candy to pay for it. I feel like cryptocurrency is at the peak of technological evolution.”
Red Sox Star amongst 30 clients
Whenever Atkinson would get free time from baseball training, he would work diligently and eventually, the cryptocurrency hedge fund BlockTerra Capital LLC was formed.
The ‘word-of-mouth’ buzz has contributed massively for BlockTerra Capital LLC, as the company has already attracted investors and 30 customers who are pro baseball or football players.
Joe Kelly, the 29-year-old pitcher for the Boston Red Sox was Tyler’s very first client.
Many may argue that Tyler Adkison is just another gullible, inexperienced entrepreneur and count him out. Although the fact of the matter is that most of the upcoming frontrunners in the cryptocurrency ecosystem are Millennials just like him.
Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin is undoubtedly the biggest example. At the ripe age of just 24, Buterin’s net worth was almost $400 million as per reports, not only is his staggering net worth quite impressive but also the amount of respect and influence he wields in the nascent crypto industry is quite noteworthy.
Crypto world, unstoppable?
Many billionaires like Mark Cuban has already counted out the bitcoin by saying its worthless. Former investment banking professionals like Dave Chapman have stated that bitcoin is the undisputed wave of the future. This is a classic example of the divided opinions on the bitcoin.
Chapman, who to his credentials boast of previously working at Credit Suisse, Bear Stearns, and HSBC, is the co-founder of ANX, a blockchain solutions provider, and ANX Pro, a cryptocurrency exchange.
Dave believes that bitcoin is here for the long run because “no one can stop crypto.” While many bitcoin investors obsess over its daily price fluctuations, he feels that bitcoin prices are the most boring thing about the promising cryptocurrency market.
According to Chapman’s statement which reads, “The price to me is perhaps the most tedious factor about bitcoin.”
Chapman’s statement further reads, “I’m way more excited about the applications and more excited about what this means for people who do not have access to the financial enclosure. If we focus on the price, we are losing track of the big picture.”
